Dreams

A dream I had one day in June
Half beating hearts decline
Basking delicately in the warmth of noon
Clouds formed on an assembly line
Grassy green pillows carry our bodies
Over pockets of gusting dew
Taking over our time like games or hobbies
Floating aimlessly beyond the few
Over hills, over valleys, we drift so light
Like leaves in a cooling wind
We reach the end of this spring delight
Back to the start to ride again.

Isn't love beautiful?

A story of a man who wants so badly to get away from his wife he is willing to go to any lengths. Read the story below. Makes those married folks wonder about themselves, no? What would you do to get away from someone who is overbearing? Or the 1,000,000 dollar question is: What would you do for a Klondike Bar?

Looking Back

This poem (if you can call it that) was written for the days once shared by friends. Those days so lost, it hurts. Nothing special as you will soon read, mostly just me putting words together trying to make sense of it all. Enjoy!!

Slamming the door abruptly in the face
Closing all remnants of what once was there
Crushing all the shadows of the past
Aged events forever lost
Forecasts of futures nowhere in sight
Dreams and hopes forever wain
Bringing nothing to the heart
Holding no one in their grasp
Going back and forth through particles
Of a past lost in the annals of time
Shuttering at the thought of pressing
Shrinking at the thought of pleading
Paralyzed by the notion of knocking
Firm feet placed against the iron door
Blocking all who dares to trodden it
Holding out those not included
Problems burrowed deep inside
Admitting no one with a penchant for life
Tight lipped and loose buckled
Sharing the hopelessness with one another
I guess you can, really, never go home again.

Star Wars Wedding

Because you know you always wanted to have one of these. Don't deny it! To bad that Chewbacca wasn't invited, however. No one seems to like a man in fur. The link to the rest of the pictures is below:

Michael Vick saga becomes to much for me.

Watching any sports this week you notice a growing trend, with Michael Vick. He is back in the NFL now, and some people are up in arms. I have listened to people interviewed showing their outrage over the signing. Many saying how could the Eagles sign a "murderer"? Let me ask you something: Do you really think everyone in the NFL are model citizens? I bet right now 10% of every roster in the NFL have signed players who have been convicted of, or charged with crimes.

Yet Michael Vick is different cause he killed animals? Now don't get me wrong what Vick did is horrible, and he should feel bad about it. But what if he doesn't? Would it really matter? Unless you are living with Vick should any of us really care if he feels remorse over the crime? By law he has already paid his debt to society, and he has every right to make a living at his chosen profession.

Also, what constitutes remorse anyway? Him saying he is sorry 50 million times? What does that really accomplish? Sorry is just a word. In fact saying sorry carries about as much weight as holding your hand out to stop a speeding train. A word with no meaning, unless the person saying it takes action.

To me it is more important Vick takes actions to not being involved in dogfighting, or any other crime for that matter. If he does that, then, to me, he has every right to live his life and make a living. Saying I am sorry does little. It just eases other peoples feelings, but doesn't solve anything.

What about Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie? This is the man who 2 years ago spouted off about how he would "NEVER" hire someone who was involved in dogfighting. Funny how "NEVER" only lasts 2 years when you are trying to win a Super Bowl, huh Mr Lurie? Here is an excerpt taken from PhiladelphiaEagles.com during a press conference held at the signing of Michael Vick. You can get the full transcript of the press conference at http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=18340 :

On how they plan to measure his contributions to society, and whether their only measuring stick is on yardage: "We don't measure him on yardage. My own measurement of Michael Vick will be 100 percent, 'is he able to create social change in this horrendous arena of animal cruelty?' Whether he is successful with us on the field, sure I hope he is. But his legend and whether we are giving him a second chance will be successful if he can diminish the level of animal cruelty. That's it. If he is not proactive he won't be on the team because that's part of the agreement."

If he can "diminish the level of animal cruelty"? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Is Vick going to go around in his Superman costume and stamp out all dogfighting rings? Look! Up there in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's-- well you know the rest.

Creating social change in this horrendous arena of animal cruelty? What are you talking about Mr. Lurie? Are you saying you will pay Vick if he throws 30 interceptions but creates a social change in dogfighting? The manure he is shoveling is getting pretty deep, he better reach into his deep pockets and get a backhoe to help him.

This decision was money and football related pure and simple. For Mr. Lurie to go and say that Vick will not be measured in "yardage" is absurd. Why sign someone to a team if you don't think he can improve said team? Especially someone with a conviction on dogfighting like Michael Vick? A crime, 2 years ago, Mr. Lurie thought was "unforgivable". Be real Mr. Lurie, this decision hinges less on what he does in the neighborhoods of Philadelphia, and more on what he does on the field in Philadelphia. If Vick puts on a good front and does and says all the right things about dogfighting will Mr. Lurie know or think Vick is any less sincere about it?

When did you become Captain Morals anyway, Mr. Lurie? The NFL, as with the world, has its good people and bad people. I am sure you have signed your fair share of players with questionable backgrounds. Yet you go out of your way to make the Vick signing into some sort of soapbox for how moral a man you are. Funny how this press conference turned from a signing of a football player to the "Captain Morals Show". Come on Mr. Lurie, this decision was made because the Eagles see Michael Vick as a way to improve a football team, nothing more nothing less.

My real point is for people to cry and whine about him signing with a sports team is pointless. Vick paid his dues, and will be a face of anti-dogfighting (whether he wants to or not) so what else do you expect from this man? Michael Vick is a human being like everyone else in this world, and he deserves a chance to live his life. Would making Vick dig ditches and banning him from football, for life, really accomplish anything?

Remorse, and feeling terrible about his actions have nothing to do with it. The only thing it does accomplish is to quell feelings of people who will forever view Vick as a "murderer". For the rest of us life moves on, and sports does as well. In 2 years, we will be on to the next football player who was arrested for drunk driving, or shooting himself in the leg, or beating his wife/girlfriend, etc.

Let's stop with this morals and remorse garbage, Mr. Lurie and fans of those few whining Eagles fans. Football is not life and death nor is it a measure of how great, a person, someone is or isn't. Maybe Michael Vick is a terrible person, but even so he deserves the rights, we all enjoy, to make his living. It is that simple. Follow the words of your invisible man in the sky, Mr. Lurie and those few whining Eagles fans: Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Words to live by, no?

Proof of Life?

Terrible

The Darkness Without and Light Within

A dank cell with four walls
So mute and so demure it calls
Its occupant screams for his release
But little he can do will break the leash
The smell alone grinds upon the nostrils
Skeletons float in the corner beyond that of fossils
The prisoner blinded with fury for his plight
Cannot even see his fingers to begin the fight
Gray inner walls made of stone and layer
Speaking softly to no one but its moody sayer
The grating rough stone a picture of age
The darkness within causing a burning rage
Slowly the man beats his hands upon the wall
Trying in vain to make them tumble and fall
Blood trickling down from his beefy right hand
His futile screams trying to relay his command
Quiet again the smell again grates
Telling the naked figure of his desperate straights
Stammering he finds a seat on the cold cement floor
No light no sound just he and the door
Off in the corner lies a slit for a view
A window so slight its sight is taboo
It shines brilliantly on a bucket of tin
Filled half way with the waste from within
Its smell permeates all around
Smells so foul it could level the town
But then a flickering light happens in the slit
Nothing less for the man to go see it
He finds a lark so brilliant and bold
Making light of its wait so beaming and gold
Reaching, the man begins to clasp
A small life held firmly in his grasp
Softly he whistles to mimic the creature
Calming its nerves like a mindful teacher
What can you teach me? says the man flush
A sweet melody comes out in a rush
No song so sweet can these stone walls bear
As the man listens close falling safely on air
Dreaming of a field so green and lush and strong
Where everything meant nothing and nothing was wrong
The sweet flowers draw his senses awake
Gleaming and beaming like a still blue lake
His mind is away from the terrible ordeal
Hearing the song of the lark he begins to feel
That all will be golden and everything right
Senses so full feeling the golden light
But as soon as it happens it is gone once more
Tears plunge from deep within the man's core
Escaping from his hand the lark flies free
Waving a somber goodbye with its thumping melody
Back to darkness is the man's eye
Squinting to see the remains of the night go by
Cold is the floor so dusty and weak
Trying is the situation so terrible and bleak
Nothing can be done about the pale moonlight
Shining brightly on the slit being the man's only sight
Teaming with the light of the full moon
The larks freedom song in his mind so soon

Love Poem

The Heart of the Matter

In a heart I have found
A beauty of which so deep
The light of which has me bound
By the tips of my aching feet
This beauty so passing and fair
Makes my heart soar high above
This decision leaves little despair
As her lips sing my song of love
Her eyes sparkle brightly
Framed in a face so smooth and clear
Her words come out so sprightly
A song so wonderful to hear
She is but a perfect creation
For my eyes see this as true
In my mind I need no persuasion
For this heart beats only for you

Poems

What day is it?

A day of which I forever find
In something of which I wrought
A day so clear it holds and binds
It is beyond anybodies thought
For this day comes once in a moon
From the heavens and stars so high
A day coming fast from dusk to noon
Its hope coming ever so nigh
This day you ask so stately and keen,
What could it be you say?
Why this day is here so boldly and mien
For the answer is today!

My attempt at describing child birth.

This is part one of an ongoing group of poems I hope to write about this. If anyone out there can give me some pointers on child birth it would be very helpful. I used the Cosby Show as a reference to write this poem, so hopefully I don;t trivialize the pain women go through to much. Here is the poem:

9 months of carrying the womb
Screaming desperately into the air
Looking frantically throughout the room
Clinched fists from her husband in the chair

She pushes her body to the brink
Using all her reserves in toe
The doctor coaching blindly with a wink
"Push Holly-- push with all you know!"

Closing her eyes gently to the sound
Of her own breathing, pale and labor
Her reserves she has finally found
As her womb stabs her like a saber

She recalls all the preparations
From the nursery building breakthrough
To her labor coaches dissertations
Of breathing and pain management too

Her mind fills up so fast
Like a drippy faucet sink
This calming feeling doesn't last
For in an instant she is back to the brink

The hardest part still lies ahead
As the bowling ball buckles and screws
Pushing against her opening spread
As the person inside begins to break through

The searing pain burns within her loins
As she stretches beyond the core
Her sweat sounding on the floor like coins
With the doctor always asking for more

His constant chatter is quite a pain
Repeating the phrase over and over
"One more push Holly then we will gain
a hold of this budding little clover"

Her teeth clinch in a twist
The pain reaching a height of tolerance
Squeezing tightly on her husbands wrist
His purple hand showing the blood flow hindrance

With the sound like that of a soda
Her sweaty and slippery hips
Twist gracefully in a pose of yoga
Pop! As the head appears past the lips

Now the rest comes out in a gush
Nothing like the first part of this
Everything comes out with a rush
Of a mucus and slime covered mist

Her baby enters the world
With a wailing so sweet to her ears
The babies form twisted and curled
As the couple plans for her upcoming years

She is perfect in her mothers arms
As her fists shake with the fury of life
They vow to protect their child from harm
The same as when they became man and wife

More Stuff

A Loss So Sudden

His loss hits like a boulder
His presence forever missed
The burden harder to shoulder
Thoughts making you reminisce
Of a time when things were brilliant
So happy, gay, and free
The memories quite flippant
As the tears fall like leaves from a tree
In these times please remember
Those moments you shared as one
Like cold winters in December
Or May’s blossoming mid-day sun
The good times that you shared
Will forever be a part of you
Those times when you both cared
With a love beyond any two
So keep his memory dear
And never forget his life
Push forward with little fear
As his spirit guides you through your strife
For I am very certain
That he would want it this way
For you to pull sadness like a curtain
AWAY!! To your brand new day!

Poems by me!!

An Inevitable Return

From beauty springs a light
Gleaming high up in the sky
One which shines shimmering, bright
No bars can stop her reply
She sings her brightly song
As she wishes from above
In past she may have done wrong
But now she soars like a dove
Her eyes fixed on something
The heart of which is true
A feeling of which so loving
That holds so tight like glue
In this feeling she remembers
Of a time with emotions so high
From the frosted trees of December
To the colorful nights in July
All this awaits her return
Of a fiercely wonderful design
These dreams of which she yearns
For with her it is but a matter of time.
